I believe it is innate to the human experience to feel a sense of abandonment. For as long as I can remember, I have carried in my heart the knowledge that, deep down, I am profoundly alone. Yet when I look at the world, especially at the people I love, it’s not that my loneliness disappears. Rather, I know they carry it too. It becomes a shared burden, a shared responsibility, a shared heart longing to feel light. Weightless.
These watercolors are an exploration of that idea. I usually work with heavy materials such as oil or acrylic, but here, I turned to watercolor, letting paper and pigment be washed away together, embracing transparency. This shift in medium mirrors the feeling I am trying to express: the desire for a heart that is not heavy, a heart that can fly, a heart that bursts like a volcano and reaches for the sun, a heart that falls only so it can rise again.
